I read that users post before but this time, I notice he is asking if anyone has a user manual and service manual.

I have sent a quick email to Waldorf.

Right! I now have a scanned copy of the user manual as very kindly supplied to me by a Brian Roland. I responded to a 2004 post on a website where Barrie of Keychange Music was asking for the very same thing.

I tried to upload the manual to the FTP but was unable to login. The zip file is a mere 3MB and unpacks 83 jpg images.

I now know that my SMP 24 firmware on power up is v1.4, but the manual refers to a v1.6 for use with MROS and Cubase; however on the Preface page one it says, “On power up, you will see the software version of your SMP 24 (currently 1.4)”. Anyway I will be having another go with everything shortly, after I have eaten and properly woken up (got up at 10am). I notice that someone on Atari-Forum.com used the CAF SMP4 driver instead of the older SMP24 so I will experiment to see which works if any.

Ah, I had to change the password as I had forgotten it for someone else to upload stuff to it...

Oops...

For now the new password is atarimusic, I'll look into making it anonymous in a few days and publish the full details in a mini article or something.

I've just uploaded the SMP 24 user manual to the FTP area, so you can add this to the list of public downloads with the MIDEX+ etc.

I've not got any further with getting mine to work with Cubase yet, but I am using my STE machine as it is setup and more convenient. I will try it with my Falcon today or tomorrow and after that, I suppose I will have to look into getting the firmware EPROM upgraded if possible.

Update:

I have now upgraded the firmware to v1.65, and this works perfectly with Cubase and Cubase Audio. I solved this problem by purchasing an additional SMP24 from Ebay, which had the v1.65 firmware EPROM inside. I have since sold the second SMP24 and in the process, the buyer had the opportunity to copy my v1.65 EPROM for himself.

I have also a working SMP-24 interface at my Mega-STE and I just found the user manual here on this website. Can I have the 1.65 firmware? I have eprommer device to program the file into an eprom.

Hello and a warm welcome to the forum! Here is the firmware upgrade you require to make your SMP-24 work with Cubase.

Hello, thank you, but I tryed to extract that file with winrar and 7zip, and I can't? It tells it is not a valid zip file.

Thank you for the file. My SMP24 is already working in Cubase 3.1. Can you explain how to set the SMP24 Midi Port 1 as the default port for all songs?

Wow nice find! I used to have one of those until I sold it a couple of years ago. Great piece of kit, especially if you had it upgraded to work with Cubase.

I was almost tempted to buy one years ago but I already had the MIDEX+ and a Unitor-N as well one of those homemade cables that uses the Export driver to provide an extra MIDI out from the modem port.....actually I am somewhat surprised there are no instructions on how to build such a cable on here as it is a dead easy way to add an extra MIDI port to an Atari for next to nothing.
